10.02.2015 HÜNNEBECK HELPS BRIDGWATER COLLEGE TRAIN TOMORROW’S CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERS

Hünnebeck (one of the UK’s leading formwork and falsework specialists) has joined forces with a college in the South West which is offering free employee training for local companies.  Hünnebeck has provided Bridgwater College with a range of formwork, falsework and access equipment to help students on the college’s steel fixing course gain practical, hand-on experience.

Bridgwater College is working in partnership with a number of small and medium-sized local employers to run programmes which help train their workforces to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the construction of the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station. “This will be an enormous and lengthy construction scheme and will result in the creation of the UK’s first new nuclear power station for 25 years,” saysHünnebeck’s Anthony Kenmare. “We were keen to get involved with Bridgwater College and help local employers make sure their employees are prepared for the nuclear new-build construction challenges that lie ahead.”

Hünnebeck has supplied a variety of equipment, including its GASS® aluminium shoring, and DU-AL™ aluminium beams, plus CUPLOK® steel shoring and access equipment. This equipment will be used to familiarise students with formwork and falsework products.

“The Bridgwater College course will help the students gain the knowledge and skills they need for a career in Civil Engineering,” adds Anthony Kenmare. “Our equipment will give them practical experience of the type of working environment and equipment they will encounter on site. We have also worked with the college and provided training on safe erection, use and dismantling procedures.”

“It’s absolutely essential that our students are able to get this type of real-world experience if they are to be properly trained for the future,” adds Stefan Cecchini, Nuclear New Build Manager for Bridgwater College. “The new power plant will the largest construction projects this region has ever seen, and so we’re grateful for Hünnebeck’s assistance in helping us prepare people for it.”

The GASS® aluminium shoring system which Hünnebeck will provide to Bridgwater College offers a safe, practical and cost-effective solution to the demands of today’s construction industry. The company will also provide its CUPLOK® steel shoring system, which is designed for projects that require particularly tall, high-load structures with integrated work platforms and protective decks.

These products are complemented by Hünnebeck’s DU-AL™ aluminium beams, which allow the creation of bespoke primary and secondary beam configurations for formwork, falsework and soffit support. For site access, the company will also be providing its CUPLOK® staircase system which is designed to provide high-strength and high-safety access solutions.
