Biomass power plant, Dumfries and Galloway UK
|Description||Biomass power plant, Dumfries and Galloway|
|Challenge||High loads and sloping concrete walls|
Hünnebeck (formerly Harsco Infrastructure) was selected as specialist formwork and falsework supplier for E.ON UK’s £90m biomass power station at Stevens Croft, near Lockerbie, one of the largest of its type in the UK.
The building incorporates complex concrete structures including a large concrete fuel pellet hopper with sloping concrete walls as well as tunnels and conventional columns and beams. Working with the main contractor, we designed a solution using MkII steel soldiers and aluminium beams to create and support the sloping wall formwork whilst a series of mobile gantries were designed for the tunnel roof slabs and the larger beams. These allowed easy striking and relocation to the next poor position.
